Welcome to Zenger Farm

We are a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.

Livestock on the Farm

Keeping livestock at Zenger Farm is a community endeavor. Visiting youth help to move the chickens from one field to another, the Bee Group tends to bee needs, and beginning farmers tend a flock of turkeys from young poults until they are full-grown at Thanksgiving. By creating direct opportunities for shared ownership of farm livestock, Zenger Farm aims to increase educational opportunities and diversify farm income.

Zenger Farm Egg Cooperative

A diverse flock of laying hens is tended by the Zenger Farm Egg Cooperative, a group of community members who share in the care of the flock and the bounty of the eggs.

The Zenger Bee Group cares for the honeybees at Zenger Farm. This group of bee enthusiasts meet monthly for an educational presentation and time to care for the bees. These meetings are open to the public. Check the events page for upcoming meeting dates and topics.

Thanksgiving Turkeys

Zenger Farm's flock of turkeys spends their days grazing on bugs and enjoying the bounty of leftover produce from the fields. These talkative and social birds play an integral role in educating youth and adult visitors about the process of growing food, from field to fork.

If you are interested in a Portland-grown turkey for your Thanksgiving table, contact sara@zengerfarm.org.
