Welcome to Zenger Farm

We are a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.

 

 Annual Picnic

 

Celebrate farming in the city with us this summer!

 

Enjoy a picnic prepared and generously donated by Bon Appetit Chef Joe McGarry featuring ingredients donated by our local farm friends at Gales Meadow Farm, Springbank Farm, and Kookoolan Farms. The delicious spread includes BBQ chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, grilled squash with pesto, caprese salad, lemon cucumber and carrot slaw, and blueberry-rhubarb bread pudding!

 

Our very own board member, Carrington Barrs, and Bryan Arakelian of the Dos Zapatos will kick off the event and will be followed by René Berblinger of Gales Meadow Farm on the guitar and Olivia Duffy, mandolinista extraordinaire. With full bellies and a setting sun, we'll watch the locally made film "Ingredients" projected on the side of our barn.

 

Grab your favorite picnic blanket or lawn chair and join us on the farm!

 

 
Picnic Details

•Farm tours at 6:10pm, 6:20pm & 6:30pm   •Picnic served at 7pm    •Movie begins at sundown/8:15pm.

 

•No reservations necessary, just show up on the 14th. Sliding scale admission $15-$35 (includes the picnic feast!). Children under 12 free. Cash or checks preferred.

 

•Beer and wine available at cash bar for $3 a glass.

 

•Help us make this event as green as possible by bringing your own plate, drinking glass and utensils....and by carpooling, biking or taking public transportation. Get directions. If you drive, please park on Foster Road.

 

•Enter to win a Zenger Farm Thanksgiving turkey! Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

 

Funds raised at this event will be put to use immediately to help under-served Portlanders gain the tools necessary to grow, shop for, and cook healthy meals on a limited budget through our newest program, Healthy Eating on a Budget.
